The cross is also titanium and I polish that after tumble to get some contrast. I have tried many different types of texture and finish of Titanium scales over the years and Ive settled on this diamond pattern with tumbled finish as a good all around balance between non slip and not too aggressive of a texture. It's easily possible to fit other small items of similar size such as needle and thread or pins, to customize the available tools in this hidden drawer. Simply use a fingernail to press on the retention notch and the drawer can be opened to reveal the scale tools.
I went though many iterations to get this option dialed in, and it works flawlessly. This is my own original design and the drawer is machined from solid Ti-6-4 stock and uses the natural spring of Titanium as the retention mechanism. I have developed a solution to remedy this by designing a fold out drawer to contain these tools. Traditionally this size SAK does not have scale tools such as toothpick/tweezers. The 93mm pioneer x model is a popular choice, but users have always lamented the loss of scale tools found on the plastic scaled models.
